Episode 21: Gabe Delahaye
5 March, 2013

our-dreams-are-so-small-gabe

Oh my gosh this episode.

Let us first apologize and warn you that, at times, the audio cutouts are a little annoying. We’re sorry. Sometimes the internet is a bastard. We did the best we could to edit around them. When it gets bad, hang on and I promise you it gets better. Mostly.

Secondly, were we on glue? Our time away from the podcast seems to have made us unable to form an articulate statement or question of any kind. As a result, we inundated Gabe with a lot of rambly rambles dressed up as conversation. What a way to start out the year “23″!

Don’t get me wrong – there’s still 45 minutes of completely awesome podcast in here. Our guest handled it like a champ and it was a lot of fun.

Speaking of our guest, I know we already gave you a little sneak peak, but let’s introduce him officially now: It’s GABE DELAHAYE!

Gabe is a blogger and comedian, an Avril Lavigne defender, and a somewhat-new Los Angeleno. In videos with his friend, Max, Gabe has been the boss of the internet and Hollywood and fashion. And contrary to our bizarre/stupid  introduction, he was a very special guest. But you can be the ultimate judge—download it right now and judge us all!

Episode 21 corrections and clarifications:

  1. The Japanese dog, “Hachikō” was an Akita Inu, not a Shiba Inu like Birdie.
  2. The Big Chill was set in South Carolina, but the characters met at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Ted Nugent is from Detroit but lives in Texas now.
  3. The year is 2013 (two-thousand-thirteen).

Outtakes: Ep 21 Gabe Delahaye
4 March, 2013

gabe-delahaye
We began 2013 (or 20,013, according to Lisa) by talking to one of our favorite funny writers, Gabe Delahaye, Sr. Editor of Videogum and sometimes filmmaker with his buddy Max.

Darci then committed to five giant new projects in a month and took her sweet sweet time editing and uploading this episode for you. IN FACT, it’s not quite ready yet. But it should be by tomorrow-ish.

Until then, here is an outtake from the episode in which the three of us talk about underpants. Enjoy!

Episode 14: Sofiya Alexandra
11 September, 2012

Our guest, comedian Sofiya Alexandra, talks with us about emigrating from Russia as a kid, the prevalence of Yakov jokes and the hilarious inspiration of an all-in-one printer. We get a surprise visit from an old  friend (Suzanne Somers’ old lady cleavage) and a new friend (@brandamonium). Join us as we giggle a ton, sing about friendship and make more conversation about vaginae than you can shake a stick in.

Episode 9: Shelby Fero
20 February, 2012

After a long long break, we finally return with Episode 9, in which we meet the young and talented comedian, Shelby Fero. If you haven’t seen Shelby on Cracked.com or Hello Giggles, then perhaps you’re one of her 65 bajillion Twitter followers? Or else this will be your introduction to Shelby and you’ll probably love her as much as we did. There’s only one way to know for sure, so start downloading.

We’re only slightly mortified to admit that the conversation topics did include, in large part, dieting and lady parts. I guess women really do be talking about periods sometimes, right? But if you’re brave enough to listen, we also discuss sci-fi movies, sandwiches and that time one of us accidentally took ecstasy at a wedding reception.

This episode is dedicated to the late, great Wild Bill Ivy, who would have turned 40 today. xoxoxo

Episode Six: Baron Vaughn
7 December, 2011

Uh-oh! Actor and comedian Baron Vaughn has put us all in musical danger.

We Skype-speaked (we did not “skeet”) Baron from Canada, where he is shooting season 2 of Fairly Legal, a lawyer-show on the televisions. He patiently answered all of our “What’s it like to be a road comic?” questions, and most of our, “What’s it like to be a black guy?” questions. Then he dropped a couple of question-bombs on us.

If you’ve listened all the way to the end of each episode, after the theme song ends, you know we like to add a little tag on each one–a callback to something fun from the episode. This one makes us laugh especially hard.

Episode 4: Virginia Jones
27 October, 2011

In this installment we welcome a stand-up comic, lay-down goth and our first human lady guest.

It’s a Clam-Jam!

Comedian and Portlandian, Virginia Jones, joins us. And, yes, we talk about comedy and funny women. More importantly, we discuss what Lisa learned about sex from a horse.

Episode 3: Doug Mellard
18 October, 2011

We caught up with comedian, former Austinite and frequent naked person, Doug Mellard, just two days before retirement, and dragged him into a dangerous and dark conversation about Scott Bakula and turtle sex. Will he survive? Will we? Will YOU? Or are we all getting a little too old for this shit?
